First breath of air August 1957 was the year They put the sputnik in the sky To keep an eye on the world I wasn’t born I was torn From a womb Into a room I got a smack I looked at my mum And I began to cry With my first breath of air I began to cry Before I knew what was there I began to cry No it just wasn’t fair All my time as a boy I walked around starring at the sky And wondering why we have all got to die sometime And now I’m older Still looking at the world And wondering why I’m left To wonder why all the time

Loaded man with a gun Should believe in moderation But we live in excess Should believe in communication But we only express Should believe in seeing stars And we're all city heights we've got half a culture behind bars And we talk of human rights. Look at all of history To see what we’ve become Just another loaded man with a gun And all of evolution sees us standing in the sun just another loaded man with a gun. The worst thing in our history That ever has been done Was back in 1940 something When you dropped the bomb Now you walk around the world point your finger at everyone You think you are the savior that your the kingdom come. Look at all of history To see what we’ve become Just another loaded man with a gun And all of evolution sees us standing in the sun just another loaded man with a gun. Don’t wanna live like America I wanna live in a true democracy I wanna live in a fair economy Don’t wanna live under hypocrisy

Money 01:56
Money Money talks in a universal language But I still don’t understand Money is a secret weapon That we all hold in our hand Money talks with a silver tongue And it’s lapping you in flames Money burns a hole in your pocket And a black hole in your brain. Money washing like a flood Over the city Washing love right down the drain Money has ten thousand names Need Money to play our games Money is god, but it’s one we can touch Yeah it’s no wonder we love it so much Money floats, but you will drown When that final wave comes down

Damn It All 03:59
Damn it all She pushed the door And it opened up into the night Her feet are heavy But her head was feeling light God knows what she has taking tonight And what ever she does She thinks she’s gonna do it right Such a small town that it figures Why she won’t stop Just a small voice crying out Against the endless drop And the world is very small Yeh the world is just a ball She is just a speck So what the heck And damn it all She on rocket And she is flying to the moon She looks back down On a town with grace and gloom White walls, white sheets Are the only colors in her room Oh my god she’s woken up In the town on the day of her own doom Such a small town that it figures Why she can't stop Just a small price to pay For the endless drop And the world is very small Yeah! the world is just a ball She is just a speck So what the heck And damn it all

Lost Causes 04:06
Lost causes Ever been on a starlight flight Take a ride on a moonbeam slide Take your socks off and walk on a rainbow Come across to the other side I know you want to -- lost causes I know you want to See the world asleep at peace tonight

Feel 03:39
Feel We can feel the wind We can feel the rain We can feel the sky above We can feel the mud We can feel the beating of our hearts With the world Like a drum It’s were we started from So we’ll remember We can feel the dust We can feel the trees We can feel the stars above We can feel the sea

You walk into the kitchen Everybody got something to say But no one is talking to you Everybody got somewhere to go No one's taking you Everybody needs someone to hold No one’s holding you everybody wants to be different but the're just like me and you And you walk into my kitchen and you say brother My heart is breaking Is there something you can do? Well if my hands Weren’t so tied down by money If my heart and soul were free if it weren't so hard To keep my head above the water I'd reach out and set my brother free but I am no one And there aint nothing I can do Everybody wants something to own They don’t want to give it to you Everybody got expectations but you don’t know what They want you to do Every body needs someone to follow You don’t want them following you Every body wants to be different

The Garden 02:46
The Garden I gotta bridge That I burnt behind me I got a road up ahead That is broken off in two I gotta a bag Full of problems Don’t know where to go Don’t know what to do Is it like that for all of us Our own private universe we are in a garden All we can do Is wait for nothing I gotta head full of dreams A pocket full of secrets And I’ll share them all with you i've got a head full of problems i don't know where to go and i don't know what to do. I know that may seem unreal But that is just the way I feel Where in a garden All we can do is wait for nothing i had a need to have this vision to write it in a song and make it all come true and give it all to you.

Comes The Time And when the time has come To lay our bodies down Is that when peace will come? Is that were freedoms found? And as our bones decay A name without a face will our souls rise up In to another place? Or will we linger there Within the in-between And will our eyes no more See things we’ve never seen? And will the promise made Come true Or was it a guess? At least while we’re alive Good luck take care And God bless.

The living bell Have you heard the bell? It tolls heaven and it tolls hell If you listen to the sound Gathering everyone around The sound of all the words we’ve talked The ring of all the steps we’ve walked To the end of time Just to hear it ring Have you ever seen the light? Makes the daytime out of night Shining down on all we do Shining down on me and you It don’t matter who you are The truth is locked up in a star And we are all standing In the sunshine! Have you held gods hand The hand of time That lets you stand here Be you woman Or be you a man A past to help you understand It’s only ever yes or no To everything we’ll ever know On the path That leads us home

about

This album was recorded on the verandah of Pix Records in Conondale Queensland, by Pix Vane-Mason back in 2002. I sat in front of a single microphone with an old nylon string guitar and a couple of $6 mouth organs, and somehow magic happened, birds began to sing along with the songs, a breeze gently played the windchimes that rang in the same key as the tunes i played, the beautiful sound of happy chooks can be heard along with the homely sound of someone tidying the kitchen, and the ambience of vehicles in the distance, it is still to this day one of my favourite moments in time and space.
